Experimental Print Making with Jay Angel Valentine - April 21st 1:00-3:30pm
Description:
Students will use various everyday objects to explore cheap DIY/non traditional
printmaking techniques to create small scale prints that can be done at home. Both
block printing and etching techniques will be demonstrated in this workshop.
20 - 30 Minutes: Intro to class, introductions, demonstrations on various DIY
printmaking techniques with household items including:
- Linocuts with erasers, potatoes, oranges (for rolled / continuous design)
- Drypoint etching with recycled plastic
2 Hours: Work time for students
10 - 20 Minutes: Time for clean up, time for students to share work, feedback /
critique
Learning Objective:
By the end of the course, students will have experienced non traditional printing
and will be able to apply these skills to their own body of work. This workshop
encourages the exploration of unconventional materials and processes, and aims to
give students increased confidence in experimentation.
