Our Mission
We aim to dismantle barriers to artistic entry and foster an inclusive environment where everyone is recognized as a creative— where self-expression is not just welcomed but celebrated.
By curating exhibitions, workshops, and events that spotlight diverse voices, the Fishbowl will serve as a catalyst for dialogue, connection, and cultural exchange. We champion the belief that art is a powerful tool for social change, providing resources and support to artists at all stages of their journey.
About The Fishbowl
Uptown's gallery and event space designed for QTBIPOC (Queer, Trans, Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) artists, creatives, and community members to find belonging. Our mission is to create a safe and nurturing environment where marginalized voices in the art world can flourish, connect, and co-create.
From our founder:
“I was chatting with my therapist about this 6000+ sqft commercial space I stumbled upon, dreaming about turning it into a gallery, art studio, and event space. They mentioned this quirky fact - a goldfish only grows as big as its tank. And that got me thinking: What if we gave QTBIPOC folk a massive, nurturing 'tank' of their own? Wouldn't they just flourish, expressing themselves genuinely and without restraint? That's when The Fishbowl was born! It's more than just another gallery or artist studio - it's an invitation to take up space, to be bold, to be unapologetically you. Funny enough, we couldn't snag the initial spot due to asbestos, but the universe guided us to this incredible place that, wait for it, actually looks like a giant fishbowl!” - Rya
