Cyanotype Workshop with Rae

from $35.00

Join us for a Cyanotype workshop at the Fishbowl either on March 8th or 12th, with sliding scale tickets $35+, to explore art inspired by the light with our teacher Rae Hood! With this month’s exhibit exploring queer fashion, we’ll be doing cyanotype print patches to add some handmade flare to our own looks.

Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create stunning white and Prussian blue images.

As always, feel free to bring found materials to experiment with. Translucent and organic materials tend to work great.

About:

Rae is an artist, plant lover and queer portrait photographer based in Seattle. They got their degree in fine arts with a concentration in historical photographic processes in 2013. They rediscovered the cyanotype medium in 2020 when they realized the need to incorporate more play in their creative practice. Their work with their company The Forest Blues is inspired by the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and everything that grows around them.
