FAT Healing Arts Workshop - More than Form: Sculpting Stories in Clay

  • The Fishbowl 323 2nd Avenue West Seattle, WA, 98119 United States (map)

This is a space to reconnect with your body through clay. In this hands-on clay workshop, we’ll explore the fat form as a source of inspiration - drawing from lived experience, body memory, and the narratives we carry about ourselves. Rather than focusing solely on representation, we’ll center the creative process as a tool for healing, reflection, and radical self-expression

Artist and facilitator Courtney will guide attendees in thoughtful conversation and creative play, encouraging a shift away from perfectionism and toward self-compassion. Their approach invites participants to engage with clay as a medium for exploring identity, embodiment, and the power of personal story.

All materials provided. Sculptures will be fired and available for pickup approximately 3 weeks after the workshop. Open to all levels - no clay experience necessary.

Made possible by funding from the Seattle Department of Neighborhoods, this event is open and free to all.

However, for this event, we kindly ask that you consider making a donation to help cover the cost of materials and supplies, as our facilitator is generously offering their time at no charge.

Sliding Scale Suggested Donation: $10, $15, $20[b]

ACCESSIBILITY: Our space is ADA accessible, with a ramp located to the right of the staircase leading down to the venue. We offer a range of seating options, including chairs that are more comfortable for fat folks. We ask that guests be mindful of the privilege their body may hold when it comes to accessing public seating. If you are in an abled and smaller body, please use the smaller white event chairs to help ensure inclusive and accessible seating for everyone.
