Join us for a Cyanotype workshop at the Fishbowl on 11/17 from 1-4, tickets $35+, to explore art inspired by the light with our teacher Rae Hood!
Cyanotype photography is a camera-less technique that involves laying an object on paper coated with a solution of iron salts before exposing it to UV light and washing with water to create stunning white and Prussian blue images.
Rae is an artist, plant lover and queer portrait photographer based in Seattle. They got their degree in fine arts with a concentration in historical photographic processes in 2013. They rediscovered the cyanotype medium in 2020 when they realized the need to incorporate more play in their creative practice. Their work with their company The Forest Blues is inspired by the landscapes of the Pacific Northwest and everything that grows around them.
